End-of-September progress update
Greetings alien lovers!
Do you want to hear a funny story? We discovered that last month, Thailand Vtuber Taiyo Bouken streamed a pirated beta build of The Symbiant on Youtube. Needless to say, we were absolutely thrilled by the prospect of Thai alien enthusiasts enjoying our game, so we posted an announcement on Twitter about looking for a Thai translator. We also messaged Taiyo, who spread the word and kindly helped us review the applications we received (read: checked the quality of their translation) and choose our new Thai translator and editor duo.
We are now happy to announce that The Symbiant will soon be available in Thai!
Writing and Editing
Irlana finished writing the first DLC, which ended-up quite longer than originally planned...! The script was sent to Ende, our editor, for correction and polish. We also started outlining the second DLC!
Art
700HASH finished more sprite work and started working on the first CG of the DLC. We won't show them here for... uh... spoiler reasons!
Voice acting
Our audio engineer performed minor fixes for the voice clips, and Fable inserted all the voice acting into the game.
Programming
- As previously mentioned, Fable is done with the voice acting aspect of programming.
- Additionally, we worked on separating the adult dialogue and scenes from the main scripts, and into separate folders. This is an important but time-consuming process, as Steam, Google Play and other platforms may check for NSFW text or images inside the game builds even if these assets do NOT appear in the game at all.
- We are now working on the CG gallery and other extra menu features that we have yet to implement.
- Irlana will also start going over the game build for the first round of quality check.
UI
We're also adding a bunch of handy features in the Symbiant Interface. Above you can see the Scene Selection screen. This will give players a chance to:
- See all of the game outlined per scene
- See their progress in the game
- See the different branches
- Easily find and select a scene of their choice to replay
You're welcome :D And stay tuned for the Music Room in the next update!
Beta: version 0.6.3
The beta currently covers 71% of the whole game, with 25 scenes available! You can get it in this Patreon post or at the usual place if you're a $160 CAD KS backer.

you're not going to get them in trouble??
No, why would we?
I think they might be confused because Pirating a game or playing a pirated game IS ILLEGAL- people don't normally play pirated games on a public platform for this reason.
Not only that it's releasing a build not released to the public for free, when you have to pay to get access to it.
Sure it's advertising your game, but they still released a beta build not available to the general public to their followers without your PERMISSION. You could legit sue them for this, good intentions or not.
if this person is pirating games or just playing them, I certainly hope they don't think they can get away with doing the same with companies games that would LEGIT SUE them for it.
Hi princessbarb21,
Our stance on piracy is something both of us (Irlana and Fable) have discussed and researched extensively. We understand your concern over illegal activity and we can't speak for other developers, but we have no problem with someone streaming a beta version of The Symbiant, pirated or not. In fact, we highly suspect that a number of the people who pre-ordered the game and are backing us on Patreon are players who discovered the game through piracy.
Taiyo even put a link in the itch and steam page of The Symbiant in the video's description (and no, he didn't link the pirated build). And the video is in Thai --he translated the dialogue as he played, making the story accessible to hundreds of people who would otherwise have never been able to understand our game, let alone hear about its existence. We appreciate this behavior much more than the Youtubers who stream the demo, link to their own ko-fi or Patreon and never once put a link to our own official page.
Fair enough. Thanks for clearing that up.
